A first-person narrative adventure game about exploring the compound of an apocalyptic Millenialist cult in remote New Mexico after a mass suicide. Sagebrush is primarily about exploring the compound, unlocking new areas, and reading everyone's diaries. It's about learning the stories of the people who joined the cult -- who were they? Why did they join? Why did they die for their leader, Father James? And who, for that matter, are you?
Nate has been designing games on paper since elementary school with his friends on the playground. After a childhood spent dabbling in but never finishing Unreal Tournament maps, he finally taught himself (slowly, so slowly) how to code and has been making small games ever since, mostly for game jams. Sagebrush is the product of Nate realizing his previous project was hopelessly over-scoped as well as a ton of reading about cults. It has been in development since March 2017.
